How To Be Successful In School
- Use your student planner daily. Write down all assignments and share with your parents nightly. Organization is very important.
- Come to school prepared with all of your required materials and your homework completed.
- If you do not understand an assignment or a concept, ask your teacher. If you need extra assistance, go to Homework Club in the library from 2:30pm – 3:30pm. There are adult tutors at Homework Club to help you.
- Set aside a time and place at home to study. Let your family know that you cannot be interrupted during that time. Do not have the television or stereo on in the background while doing your homework.
- Break down big projects into smaller tasks to be done.
- If you don’t have any homework, read a book for pleasure or review notes or study for an upcoming quiz/test.
- Prepare for school the night before. Check your student planner to be sure that you completed everything. Pack your backpack and get your clothes ready for the next day.
- Take an elective class that is new to you. This is the time to try new things.
- Get involved in extra-curricular activities (sports, music, dance, clubs, etc.).
- Choose your friends wisely.
- Make a connection with an adult on campus who you feel comfortable talking to. If you have any problems or concerns on campus, talk to an adult.
- Junior High School sets the stage for high school, which sets the stage for your future successes. Do your very best so that you can be the very best.
