Promotion Requirements
Promotion to a comprehensive 4-year high school program
requires students to successfully complete the following:
• Achieved a total 2.0 grade point average (GPA)(“C” average)
• Maintained a 90% attendance record
The grade point average requirement must be met in order to participate in the promotion ceremony and activities. However, disciplinary action could exclude a student from the promotion ceremony and activities even though all promotion requirements were met.

English 20 credits
7th Grade – English 7 10 credits
8th Grade – English 8 10 credits
ELD (B, I, A) courses satisfy English requirement
A student with identified reading deficiencies will be enrolled in a
reading class (English credit is not granted for reading courses.)
Mathematics 20 credits
7th Grade – Math 7, 7P, Pre-Algebra 10 credits
8th Grade – Math 8, 8P, Pre-Alg., Algebra 10 credits
A student with identified math deficiencies will be enrolled in an
additional Mathematics class.
History 20 credits
7th Grade – World History/Geography 10 credits
8th Grade – US History/Geography 10 credits
Science 20 credits
7th Grade – Science 7 10 credits
8th Grade – Science 8 10 credits
Fine Arts/Foreign Language/Career Exploration 10 credits
Art, Vocal Music, Language of Music, Foreign Language (Spanish, French),
Instrumental Music, BASICS, Everyday Living Skills, Multimedia Production,
Computers, Business Skills, Drama Physical Education 20 credits
7th Grade – PE 7 10 credits
8th Grade – PE 8 10 credits
LED Drill (a component of the Junior Leadership Corps) will count for PE credit.
